AbstractThese maps present the classification results for the river basin management plans. Surface waters are assessed for both ecological and chemical status. Groundwater status is assessed for both quantitative and chemical status. These maps present the proposed updated water body status objectives from the river basin management plans. Objectives are presented for ecological status in surface waters. For artificial or heavily modified water bodies, objectives are set for ecological potential and chemical status. For groundwater, objectives are set for quantitative and chemical status. Protected Areas Specific sites and areas of countryside can be ‘designated’. This means they have special status as protected areas because of their natural and cultural importance. Maps in this section include drinking water protected areas, nitrate vulnerable zones, urban waste water treatment sensitive areas and bathing water protected areas. Progress. A comparison between the classification status in 2015 with the current 2019 status. Location Maps to show the location of monitoring points used in classification, typology and a more detailed view of the water body network (including artificial and heavily modified designation).
